April 10 through July 4 2015
For the first time in San Diego, acclaimed ceramicist, Ichiyo Yamamoto showcased his exquisite collection of Imari porcelain in celebration of Balboa Park’s Centennial Year. Deemed “ceramic jewelry” by the Honorable Director of the Catalonia Ceramic Association at his 2010 exhibition in Spain, Yamamoto’s collection is internationally respected and admired. In addition to his artistry, Yamamoto is known for his innovative technique of using 100% liquid platinum, which he applies as a glaze before baking the porcelain repeatedly. His unique technique reinforces the porcelain and ensures the colors' permanence. His porcelain’s sparkling sheen is attributed to his platinum glaze.
