September 26 & 27, 2015

Asian food, music, dance, and crafts came alive at Balboa Park. In celebration of the Centennial of the Panama California Fair, the Taste of Asia Festival was staged from noon to 5pm at the International Cottages.

The grand finale was the Chinese Moon Festival on Sunday, September 27 at 7pm at the Organ Pavilion. The program began with three lion dance troupes prancing to drums, gongs, and firecrackers. Performers from Xiamen China University, a national treasure of dance, wushu acrobatics, and music, were also featured. A display of fireworks shining over the Organ Pavilion, along with set pieces of a dragon, a carp, a lotus, and "100," concluded the festivities.

The Organ Pavilion show was free. The Celebration was hosted by the Houses of China, India, Korea, Philippines; and Confucius Institute at San Diego State University. The Avery Tsui Foundation was a prime underwriter.
