Friends of Balboa Park and the City of San Diego’s Park and Recreation Department are partnering for the “Adopt-a-Plot” program during 2015.
Identified gardens and plots are sectioned into adoptable area and are open to individuals, families, organizations, and business partners to assist with the upgrades and beautification.
There will be clear guidelines to help ensure that each individual plot maintains its historic context, while being beautified for 2015.
Volunteers are an integral part of the success of enhancing the Park’s gardens for the Exposition Centennial and for the next 100 years. The participation of volunteers at each phase of the process will be invaluable and participants are encouraged to learn about the history of the Park and share that knowledge with family, friends, and Park visitors. Once Adoptee groups reach a total of 100 hours, each member will receive a commemorative 1915–2015 souvenir “100 years 100 hours” lapel pin.
