January 2015

San Diego’s iconic cultural landmark, Balboa Park’s California Tower, has been closed to the public for 80 years. In January 2015, the doors will reopen and park guests will once again have access to the 150-foot tower and the best view in San Diego. The tower was built in 1915 in celebration of the Panama-California Exposition. But, following the second exposition in 1935, the doors were closed to the public. The Museum of Man has spent the last three years working hard to get the permits and necessary construction done to reopen the tower for 2015. Starting in January, guided tours will once again be led up the narrow spiral staircase to the breathtaking 360-degree view of all of San Diego, Mexico, and beyond.
