At the annual Balboa Park Halloween Family Day, more than two dozen participating museums and cultural attractions presented arts and crafts projects, costume parades and contests, spooky gallery tours, treasure hunts, and other fun surprises. Museums offered free admission for kids 12 and under with a paid adult.

Highlights of this year's park-wide Halloween Family Day included mini-carnival games and costume contests for prizes hosted by San Diego Park and Rec., a doggie costume contest in Spanish Village, a "Thriller" flash mob, an appearance by Russell the 17-foot electrical giraffe, the San Diego Air & Space Museum's annual rooftop pumpkin drop, and live animals from the San Diego Zoo.

This event is hosted by the Balboa Park Conservancy. For more information, visit www.balboapark.org/halloweenfamilyday.
